The Vision: Inventive Design Thinking Meets Solution-Based Care
The foundation of the Hyperslide rests on a shared realization by both Nike and Hyperice: performance does not freeze when training ends or when the final whistle blows. Elite competitors and everyday movers alike lose valuable physical efficiency during travel, post-workout downtime, and daily movement.
To solve this, Nike’s Senior Director of Athlete Innovation, Tobie Hatfield, alongside Hyperice Founder Anthony Katz, reimagined footwear not merely as protection or style, but as a mobile recovery station. The design intent was simple yet ambitious: create a wearable device that kickstarts bodily restoration the precise moment it is powered up, effortlessly fitting into the natural cadence of a person’s routine.
Dual Expertise: Nike’s Sculpting Prowess Meets Hyperice Neural Technology
The Hyperslide merges two distinct domains of human performance:
- Nike’s Cushioning Expertise: Nike brings its legendary footwear architecture to the table, deploying a low-profile, full-length Air Zoom sole. Built to deliver soft, highly responsive feedback with every step, it reduces mechanical stress on the lower extremities while walking or resting.
- Hyperice’s Neural & Thermal Innovation: Hyperice integrates technology inspired by its popular Venom line, bringing precise targeted heat and mechanical vibration across the top of the foot.
By applying localized heat (reaching up to 117°F / 47°C) combined with three distinct levels of vibration, the technology targets neural pathways and soft tissue across the foot. This stimulation relaxes tense muscles, promotes local circulation, and delivers rapid neural relief to tired nerve endings. What was once confined to stationary physical therapy clinics is now integrated into a light, mobile slide.

At the center of this design is the Hyperslide Pod, a removable, magnetically connected module housed neatly within the slide’s adjustable strap. The pod operates in automated 15-minute recovery cycles, offering customizable relief that can be controlled directly on the unit or paired wirelessly via the Hyperice App.
Whether an athlete is stepping off the pitch, a business traveler is enduring a long flight, or a worker is recovering after a 12-hour shift, the Hyperslide functions as an intuitive personal wellness tool. It reflects Nike’s foundational ethos, “If you have a body, you are an athlete”, by democratizing high-tier recovery for anyone navigating physical fatigue.
Professional athletes, including international soccer star Virgil van Dijk, highlight that it is the precise harmony of responsive Air Zoom cushioning working simultaneously with thermal vibration that fundamentally accelerates how fast feet bounce back from exhaustion.
