As architecture continue to invent the opposite of impossible, Saudi Arabia is building the world’s first zero-gravity vertical city in NEOM. The fact that humanity has existed within dysfunctional and polluted cities that ignore nature for too long inspired this idea of a revolution in civilization. Imagine a traditional city and consolidating its footprint, that’s designed to protect and enhance nature.

THE LINE will be home to 9 million residents and it will be built on a footprint of just 34 square kilometers as its design to provide a healthier and more sustainable quality of life. The inventive project’s communities are organized in three dimensions. 1) Residents will have access to all their daily needs within 5-minute walk neighborhoods. 2) Its infrastructure will make it possible for the residents to travel end to end in 20 minutes, with no need for cars, resulting in zero emissions. 3) By leveraging AI technology, services are autonomous, this will save the residents time and effort. Designed by world-leading architects, THE LINE is 500m tall, 200m wide, 170km long and housed within an elegant mirror glass facade according to NEOM.

From the intelligent solutions that creates efficiency, THE LINE‘s amazing features includes: year – round temperate micro-climate with natural ventilation, energy and water supplies are 100% renewable. The project was designed as a series of unique communities offering a wealth of amenities, providing equitable views and immediate access to the surrounding nature. With 40% of the world accessible within 6 hours, it’s at the heart of the globe’s key trade routes. It’s just a perfect place where communities and commerce can thrive, like nothing on Earth seen before. THE LINE is the city that’s set to deliver new wonders for the world.

The plan for THE LINE was announced last year by His Royal Highness Mohammed Bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors who recently unveiled the designs of the exclusive project. In an effort to transform the Arab kingdom, the Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince came up with the vision 2030 project, aiming to transform the Saudi Arabian economy through privatization and reconstruction by reducing the dependent on oil production. The main attraction of the vision 2030 is NEOM, a smart city of the future that stretches 26,000skm, being built on the coast of the Red sea, sitting on the edge of one of the world’s most important shipping links in the Northwestern Saudi Arabia. NEOM seems to have everything needed to transform the country into an economic powerhouse as it appears to be an exciting affairs following the astonishing $500 Billion investment plan by Saudi Arabia, as the country is looking forward to attract foreign direct investment which is essential to financing the project.

HRH Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said ‘At THE LINE’s launch last year, we committed to a civilizational revolution that puts humans first based on a radical change in urban planning.’ ‘The designs revealed today for the city’s vertically layered communities will challenge the traditional flat, horizontal cities and create a model for nature preservation and enhanced human livability. THE LINE will tackle the challenges facing humanity in urban life today and will shine a light on alternative ways to live.’
