iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were the focus of attention as Apple unveiled its much awaited range of newest upgraded products and features during its Wonerlust live event. The new range of devices was designed in style with a groundbreaking aerospace-grade titanium, powerful camera upgrades, the A17 Pro chip for unparalleled performance, and an array of innovative features that tends to redefine the smartphone experience according to Designboom.
Setting a new standard for design with their aerospace-grade titanium construction, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is renowned for its strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring these models are Apple’s lightest Pro lineup ever, all with a sleek brushed texture and contoured edges. The combination of titanium bands and 100 percent recycled aluminum substructures provides exceptional strength, while the Ceramic Shield on the front and tough back glass enhance durability as described in the announcement.

The design team at Apple with intent to replace the traditional ring-silent switch came up with the idea of exclusive addition to the new series of iPhone 15 Pro models as customizable Action button. This enables users to have quick access to the camera, flashlight, Voice Memos, Focus modes, Translate, and accessibility features. The button’s press-and-hold gesture, accompanied by haptic feedback, ensures precise control of intended actions, enhancing the overall user experience.
The customizable action button and A17 Pro Chip powers the new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max as the industry’s first 3-nanometer chip. These exclusive devices feature a redesigned CPU, a 6-core GPU for immersive graphics, and a blazing-fast Neural Engine. The hardware-accelerated ray tracing opens new frontiers in gaming and augmented reality experiences. Popular titles like Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed Mirage will soon be available on these devices.

The exclusive design for the new series of iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max features an advanced camera system which is equivalent to seven pro lenses, a strength derived from the A17 Pro’s computational photography capabilities. The 48MP Main camera introduces a 24MP super-high-resolution default for stunning image quality. Users can switch between three popular focal lengths and even set one as the default. The lineup includes a 3x Telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro and an impressive 5x Telephoto camera exclusively on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Next-generation portraits offer sharper detail and improved low-light performance, while Night mode and Smart HDR enhancements ensure superior image quality.

Roadside assistance safety features are also included in the features of the new series of iPhones 15 Pro which offers a new level of wireless performance with USB-C support for data transfer speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, 20x faster than before. The second-generation Ultra Wideband chip extends Find My functionality and enables Precision Finding. Wi-Fi 6E support and Thread integration open doors to future Home app integrations.
Apple continues to prioritize safety with features like Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite, now available in more countries. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max introduce Roadside Assistance via satellite, connecting users to AAA when they encounter car trouble in remote areas, expanding on Apple’s innovative satellite infrastructure according to Designboom.

Following Apple’s commitment to its idea of sustainable advancements, with the idea of reducing plastic usage, the packaging of the new series of iPhone 15 Pro is 99 percent fiber-based, as Apple is committed to its environmental goals, with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max featuring recycled materials and eliminating the use of leather in products.
Apple has announced expanded progress to decarbonize its global supply chain, with more than three hundred manufacturers now committed to using 100 percent clean energy for their Apple production by 2030, as part of its live event. In a statement, Apple said: ‘New commitments from more than 50 suppliers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia have driven recent growth in Apple’s Supplier Clean Energy Program, which now represents over 90 percent of the company’s direct manufacturing spend. The milestone brings Apple closer to its ambitious goal to be carbon neutral across every product by 2030 according to Designboom.’

Apple Watch Ultra 2 was also unveiled to do more enhancing the capabilities of their most robust smartwatch while marking a major achievement in environmental sustainability. Built on the features of the Ultra, the version introduces the powerful S9 SiP, a remarkable double-tap gesture, the brightest display ever seen on an Apple Watch, an extended altitude range, on-device Siri, Precision Finding for iPhone, and advanced features tailored for water-related activities.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 also brings redesigned apps as it runs on watchOS 10, the innovative Smart Stack, new cycling experiences, tools for outdoor exploration, and a fresh watch face called Modular Ultra. Despite these enhancements, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 maintains its impressive 36-hour battery life under regular use and extends up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. A carbon-neutral variant is available for any Apple Watch for the first time. This is going to help the team achieve its 2023 initiative which aims to make Apple entirely carbon neutral across all aspects of its business, from manufacturing and supply chain operations to the entire product life cycle, by the year 2030.

With double tap technology, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 incorporates new features like the Digital Crown and Taptic Engine, with intuitive gestures like tapping, swiping, wrist raise, and cover to mute. One noteworthy addition is the new double tap gesture, designed to enable users to control the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with just one hand, without needing to touch the display. By simply tapping their index finger and thumb together twice, users’ experience has been enhanced as they can efficiently execute many common actions on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 including managing music playback, or snoozing an alarm, answering or ending phone calls, and capturing photos.

It’s further explained that the new double tap functionality is made possible by the enhanced Neural Engine in the Apple Watch Ultra 2. This Neural Engine efficiently processes data from the device’s accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart sensor through a cutting-edge machine learning algorithm. This algorithm is specifically designed to recognize the unique patterns of subtle wrist movements and changes in blood flow that occur when the index finger and thumb perform a double tap gesture.
