I describe it as the beautiful residences created through digital architectural platforms, as Zaha Hadid Architects in collaboration with AKT II and Hilson Moran Partnership aesthetically designed Roatan Prospera Residences. Located in Honduras’ Roatan Islands, the exclusive residential design concept responds to the climate, terrain and environment of the island, representing its lifestyle choices and enabling inhabitants to turn them into personalized homes. The idea for the aesthetic residential structures integrates local vernacular tradition of timber construction, climate appropriateness and spatial experience with new digital design, engineering and construction techniques.

The exclusive project which is the first residential units of zaha hadid architects on Roatán Próspera stands as a case study in local sustainability and global integration according to Designboom website. Collaborating with AKT II, they came up with a unique design approach that starts from a comprehensive understanding of the local supply chain, logistics and construction ideas to encourage the use of local materials, craftsmanship and manufacturing facilities in order to support the economy of the region. The inventive design thinking architects used the most advanced modular construction concepts which they generated with sustainable-sourced local materials, making a statement with their first dwelling design as an example of the paradigm shift in the development technologies happening around the world. 

According to Erick A. Brimen, CEO of Honduras Próspera LLC, as quoted by Designboom website, ‘the design prioritizes sustainability and is integral to our vision for Roatán Próspera.’‘The island of Roatán is already a renowned tourist destination. Roatán Próspera will strengthen and diversify the local economy while creating homes defined by their natural environment.’
